Steps for Each Operating System
– For Android, just follow the link with your phone/tablet to download the .apk file and the rest will be automatic. (Note: Make sure you follow the link using a web browser, not through a third-party program.)
– For OS X, I am providing a .dmg. Simply load it and you can use the .app file inside.
– For Windows, I am providing an .exe file. There’s no installation; just double-click the file and run it.
– For Linux, I am providing a .jar file (see Wikipedia). To run it, please use the command “java -jar [file_name].jar”.

Common Errors
– If you encounter a “Java runtime environment not found” error, please download the latest JRE (currently version 7) from Oracle.
– For Windows 7 and Windows 8 users, if you have the latest JRE version downloaded and are still receiving a runtime error (maybe one that looks like this: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError), please try downloading and running the corresponding .jar file provided for Linux users (it should work just fine).
– For OS X, if you have the latest JRE version downloaded and are still having trouble running the .app file, please try downloading and running the corresponding .jar file provided for Linux users (it should also work just fine).

About the Programs
Currently, all programs are written in Java, using Eclipse. Although Java is advertised as platform-independent, I’ve had some problems switching back and forth between OS X and Windows. Therefore, some versions may not work as I intend. At this point, I can only check my programs on the following operating systems:
– Mac OS X 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion)
– Windows XP Professional SP3
– Windows XP Home Edition SP3

  1. When trying to open the Click Away game on Windows version, I get this error message:

My JavaScript knowledge is too scant to tell me if it’s an error on your part or mine, haha!

        • So, generally, the error you mentioned happens when the Java version I use to make the program is newer than the Java version you use on your computer. Let’s try and see if we can’t track why you are seeing this problem.
          1. Are you able to uninstall all older versions of Java on your computer and reinstall the latest version?
          2. Which of my programs have you downloaded (game and version) worked and which didn’t work?
          3. I tested my latest games’ Windows versions on Windows XP Professional SP3. Which version of Windows are you using?

            • I was able to find a Windows 8 (x64) copy to use and test. And I ran into the same problem you did; that some programs worked and some didn’t. That’s really strange, since I wrote and compiled them all in the same manner.

Nevertheless, I did find a good solution for you. Just download and run the .jar file (whichever is the equivalent of the .exe file you downloaded) and it should run just fine if you have the appropriate JRE. Please let me know if that works! 🙂 Thanks!
